Here’s a typical cascade with textbook characters.

There are four main ways for a child to be maimed or killed by a Bloodsport dog:

  1. Owning a Bloodsport dog
  2. Dogsitting a Bloodsport dog
  3. Letting the owner of a Bloodsport dog watch your child
  4. Stepping outside and a Bloodsport dog attacks

In this case, a little boy was mauled at the babysitter’s home. Desmond’s mom dropped him off with a friend who owned a pitbull. He allegedly accidentally popped a balloon and the pittbull latched onto his face.

Desmond has undergone one extensive #plasticsurgery so far and if everything works out perfectly, he will “only” need one more #reconstructivesurgery. 🙄🙄

As is common in cases where children are victimized, the mom displays poor understanding of the situation, a lack of #boundaries, lack of healthy #anger, and a desire to accommodate or please the abuser above her own child.

The #pibble owner also chose to keep the dog alive despite a history of dog aggression and this human attack. AND she wants approval from the mom. Even the police participated just like with domestic abuse cases, leaving the dog in the home without any fines or charges.

This is why I say that pitbull ownership is often directly intertwined with the #cycleofabuse and #domesticviolence. These dogs exist within dysfunctional family dynamics where their violence is tolerated.

“At that moment, Desmond popped a balloon, and the dog attacked. It had to be disengaged from his face. The front told us that they had to take their fingers and jam them into the jawbones, so that she would release him,” said Kayla.

Desmond was taken to a plastic surgeon at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and is doing well, especially considering that according to Kayla, Desmond almost lost his life.

The dog, according to Kayla, has attacked other dogs, but had never attacked a human before.

Meanwhile, Kayla’s friend had asked her what she wants them to do with the dog.

“Are you going to hate me or not let me around Desmond if I don’t put the dog down?” Kayla recounted her friend’s conversation with her. “I feel like I sound crazy, but to be honest, I’m pretty Switzerland with it. It’s trauma and trauma.”

If Desmond’s wounds heal correctly, he will only have one more surgery.”
