David Eller, 65, was walking in the neighborhood of Pleasant Oaks Mobile Home Park when two uncontained pitbulls left their front porch and began mauling him. Dionne was driving by when she saw the disturbance and turned around to investigate. What she saw is a reminder that everyone around the victim is also impacted by these violent dogs, too. Dionne is a hero for deciding to turn around instead of shrugging off a suspicious situation. She made the 911 call to authorities and has spoken out as a witness on behalf of the victim, who succumbed to his injuries.

The passage below is shared with permission from Dionne Shepherd, the Good Samaritan who stopped and called 911 upon witnessing pitbulls attacking David Eller.

I’m still wondering WHY the Lord gave ME that particular assignment yesterday??

And I wonder why it seemed like it took people FOREVER TO COME SEE WHY A HORN WAS BEING BLOWN MAD CRAZY!!!

I was the 911 caller for Mr. David Eller, may he R.I.P. I was the first person two SEE the scene of the attack. Then a bus came by with the driver blowing her horn. And a man and lady from across the road, along with a neighbor directly across from the incident approached the scene. Yet those dogs DIDN’T BUDGE!!! THEY NEVER STOPPED.

Before I got to the neighborhood, as I was passing the attack. I just happened to look to my right and noticed something was happening.

Because I heard “turn around”….I TURNED AROUND.

I saw a young, slim white girl on her hands and knees, two grey pitbulls and a FIGURE on the ground. At the time, I did NOT KNOW if it was a Halloween prop or a real person.

I cracked my passenger window and I could hear her just saying, “Stop it, stop it. Somebody please help me.” But, hell, NOBODY could hear her, she WASN’T LOUD! All of Moncks-Corner would have heard me in that situation! Then I heard the victim moan, “OH GOD! PLEASE HELP ME!” I do not know how he was able to say anything based on his condition when I saw him and realized he was a human and not a Halloween prop.

I DON’T do dogs and I definitely WASN’T going to get out of my car with the two bloodied pitbulls still attacking.

I was glad he could cry out to the Lord at that time. Even in so much pain and agony. I felt hope. I didn’t know at that time his soul would be with the Lord.

During all of this, I’m on the phone with 911, trying to tell them ALL of the details I’m seeing and hearing and what’s occurring.

It was so graphic, horrible, and horrific to see and for him to endure.

I was trying to figure out WHY she didn’t get something to hit her dogs… or do anything to STOP the attack in the BEGINNING. Or WHERE the hell was she even at when the two pitbulls first attacked the man?!

MY OPINION? CHARGE THEIR ASSES.

THIS TRAGEDY COULD HAD BEEN AVOIDED! IT WAS UNNECESSARY DEATH, PAIN, AND SUFFERING.

1) Not having those dogs secured

2) UNTIMELY DEATH

3) WRONGFUL DEATH

4) Pain and suffering for Mr. David Eller

5) Traumatic experience for him

And then for all those who witnessed the horrific scene:

1) Mental and emotional trauma

2) Future PTSD

3) Traumatic experience for others that witnessed it

I’m left wondering, where is his family? Does he have any family?

The flashbacks and constant replay is REAL.
