Ok, this case is from 2022. I wanted to go over it carefully.
About two weeks ago, Nancy sent me a photo of a blood covered #bulldog in front of a residence. She wanted to submit it but didn’t know which case it was part of at the time. She asked me to share more if I found out.
So I did eventually identify the case. It is the murder of Richard “Hutch” Barry, 59, of #Selma #California.
I’ll briefly put the basics here before continuing with dissemination. #Hutch was a few blocks down the road in a basic residential neighborhood taking a walk during the day with other family and friends when five #bulldogs “somehow” escaped their home. They found him and mauled him. Multiple witnesses tried to stop it but were basically useless. He succumbed to his injuries.
Police arrived on scene and were delayed in helping the man due to the #aggression from the dogs. They eventually decided to take a prolonged #nonlethal approach of collecting the dogs using #tasers and #beanbags.
That’s the bare bones of it. But I wanted you to see some important aspects here. It ties into the deeper angles that are allowing this form of violence to continue in our society.
- The dogs were all aggressive and covered in blood. Yet police chose a non lethal technique, potentially even delaying help to the victim or endangering bystanders.
- The dogs were at their home with a secondary owner or dog sitter. (She is the one you hear screaming for the dogs as they are non lethally subdued by police.) So their dogs escaped, mauled a man to death, bit other people. Are back at home covered in blood. And we have cries for the dogs.
- Despite all of this, the media gives a huge chunk of public space to the OWNER with an article allowing him to write his own narrative, play the victim, insert some mystery suggesting it wasn’t his dogs, claim they’re innocent, etc. This is a common tactic in high visibility r@pe and #domesticabuse stories, too. Someone was killed, but we have to listen to the #sociopath cry about his dogs.
- Yet again, we have another fatal case where the owner swears up and down that their dogs have never been violent and there was no history of violence.
I encourage you to read the article about the victim and then read the #darvo piece given to the abuser. Read both then come back for the video.
