Say Hello to Bella
👋
This pitbull was given the best of everything. She was owned by pit ambassadors who wanted to show the world that pitties are misunderstood nannydogs. 🐕
Her owners raised her right from puppyhood, trained her well, and gave her every comfort and luxury a modern dog could want. They even ran a monetized Instagram just for the dog.
When Bella was about 6 years old, her owners had a baby. They made sure to document Bella and their son together on social media with regular #pitbullproof. Look at #bellablue in her pretty crown! 🥰
Bella paid back her loyal, loving owners around their son’s first birthday. She mauled and killed him randomly in September, 2019. He was sitting in the living room, minding his own business, when the pit attacked unprovoked. The caretaker was there when it happened; he wasn’t unsupervised. She was even covered in blood and tried to stop the attack.
Bella’s owners have not publicly advocated to protect other children. They are not shouting from the mountains to warn other parents.
We cannot even name the victim of this pitbull attack as we live in a society where parents can kill their children and suppress this news as long as it was done via dog. He has passed without a voice or choice.
The next time you see “pitbull proof” photos, remember this little boy. Remember Bella. A picture is only one moment in time. But being mauled to death? That lasts forever.
Stop liking and commenting on unsafe photos or videos of children. The money your likes and comments generate for the parents encourages them to continue putting their children in unsafe situations. It normalizes these scenarios for other parents and can lead to horrific outcomes.
Respectfully,
