I have two basic points to make about the ongoing attempts by flying monkeys on the internet to minimize, deny, and DARVO the Bennard double fatality case:
- Normal dogs don’t do this. The baby was torn into two pieces. Both children mauled to death. 🪦 While the mother was lying on top of them and another adult tried desperately to stop the dogs.
Normal.
Dogs.
Don’t.
Do.
This.
It doesn’t matter if hornets 🐝 stung your dog. Or yellow jackets. Or if a firework 🧨 exploded. Or if a baby cried. Or if someone sneezed. Or if it was too hot. Or if a woman was wearing a hat. Or if the dog was hungry. (PS, these are all actual pit bull mauling excuses.)
It does not matter. Because NORMAL DOGS DO NOT KILL multiple people over a trigger.
If Spot the golden retriever was attacked by a swarm of hornets, he wouldn’t tear apart your toddler and baby, then maul you until the 👮 police arrived.
If Dahmer the chihuahua was stung a thousand times by yellow jackets, she wouldn’t even be able to tear off one piece of flesh. Even if she did go ballistic.
NORMAL DOGS DO NOT MAUL YOUR KIDS TO DEATH. Say it over and over.
- The fully grown, adult, legal caregiver who intentionally exposes the children to established danger is NOT THE VICTIM. ✔️
The victims are the two children who did not have a choice or voice in what dogs are kept around them.
The victims are the two children who are NOT ALIVE today. They are the ones that ended up on the ground as two pitbulls tore apart their bodies until they died.
The parents ARE NOT THE VICTIMS. They made this happen. They were not average owners. They were active on social media IN pitbull debates. People commented pitbull warnings, statistics, links etc at them and the parents commented back in defense of the dogs. They argued in the debate threads. They posted the memes.
This wasn’t 1987 when parents didn’t have a phone in their hands to research basic statistics or fatal news stories.
Children deserve better. Stand up against the attempt to normalize extremely violent dogs. Call them out on it. Question stories like the one above. Refuse to accept death as the default for laughing too hard, running too fast, wearing a hat, feeding dogs at the wrong time, or any other ridiculous excuse people use to defend dog attacks.
