🚨 Mom and Dad attempt to adopt pitbull puppy, spend time on social media trying to argue over breeds as son is hospitalized. 🚨
- Unlike most pediatric fatalities involving dog attacks, this one occurred while the parents were in the process of choosing an unsafe pet for their 🏡 home. Most children are lost later on, after the dog is brought into their homes.
In the case of three year old Covil Allen, the parents visited a home to choose an American Bulldog puppy for their son. While there, at least two of the dogs 🐕 attacked Covil suddenly and without provocation. It’s unclear how many joined in at this point in the investigation.
- Dog attack defenders rapidly deployed their usual DARVO and victim blaming tactics once Covil was hospitalized in critical condition. 😡 They accused the parents of not watching closely enough, as if that can stop large fighting dogs from doing severe damage in seconds. 🤨
They then blamed Covil, suggesting he was teasing or irritating the dogs. This doesn’t seem to be true based on the case report. He was minding his own business when the dogs got him.
Even if it were true, however, it’s never okay for a domesticated house pet to fatally maul a toddler over being teased or annoyed. 🚩
Finally, they moved to another tactic: claiming that the adult dogs were “just protecting” the litter of pups. It’s a heart tugging excuse on the surface and can reel in gullible people for sure. But it doesn’t hold up to basic critical thinking. 🤔 Why choose the weakest threat in the room to destroy? Why not go after the adults who were closer? Why do we as a society accept that domesticated pets are supposed to kill our children without any real threat? When did this become the default for pets in the home?
- The final blow was watching the parents side with the dogs and pit apologists. After their son spent several days in the hospital undergoing emergency surgery in a bid to save his life, doctors declared it was over. Covil had his hero walk and his organs were donated. 💔
Imagine being responsible for bringing your toddler to a home with bloodsport dogs.
Imagine being right there, watching those dogs tear your child apart.
Imagine sitting by his bed in the hospital as he suffers unspeakably and finally doesn’t make it.
And then imagine spending even twenty seconds, even one thought at all, on ensuring you make a public statement that the dogs are not pitbulls, but rather Ambulls. 🛑

Heart shattering. Beyond comprehension.
We have a deep, creeping darkness in our society. It has traveled through several topics. R&pe, child mol&station, abuse and neglect, domestic violence…all of them with this same betrayal.
When we investigate the dog attack topic, we must see it as a continuation of this sickness and not a separate topic. It is an extension of the same dysfunction.
RIP, Covil. 🪦 You didn’t even get a chance to call a pit puppy yours before it got you. May we as a society immediately come to our senses so that you are the last child who endures sharp teeth and thrashing jaws from the animals we call pets.
“BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (FOX 9) – The family of a little boy on life support after a dog attack in Brooklyn Park is speaking out.
Last Friday, Covil was in the backyard of a home in Brooklyn Park with his mother, Tasha, and older brother, Christian, to pick out a puppy when he was attacked by two dogs – the puppy’s parents.
Covil’s father, Chuck, explained that there has been misinformation about the incident, adding stress as they grieve. He clarified that the dogs involved were American Bulldogs, not pit bulls, and that Tasha immediately fought to free Covil from the attack before police arrived.
Chuck explained that while Tasha and Christian were playing with a puppy, Covil was playing nearby. Tasha heard him scream and she and the dog’s owner immediately moved to intervene.
By the time police and an ambulance arrived, Covil had been separated from the dogs, and CPR was being attempted. The dogs were put down to remove Covil from the backyard safely.
Covil suffered a fractured skull, jaw, collarbone, vertebrae, and a punctured lung. Tasha has had two surgeries on her right calf due to her own dog bite injuries and is awaiting a third surgery.”

Until every child is safe,
