Happy Heavenly Birthday to Harold Phillips. 🕯️

Harold, a hardworking father and devoted husband to his wife, Shauntaye, for 11 years, was walking home after preparing for a job interview one day when he was fatally mauled. This is why we fight every day for dog bite awareness.

The three #pitbull 🐕 mixes that attacked him were owned by Ray and Trevina, who were charged with a felony after Harold succumbed to his injuries.

Harold’s wife has bravely pushed forward for change in a city gripped with the #dogdelulu and #rescue corruption. She’s started the process of suing multiple involved parties, including #Detroit #animalcontrol and a nonprofit animal shelter. She’s uncovered the predictable recklessness occurring across the nation where #nokill turns to protecting and releasing dangerous dogs back into our communities. 🚩

One of the dogs that murdered Harold was declared dangerous by Detroit Animal Care, yet they released it back to Roy. 🤬

The horrendous attack happened around 8pm in #February, 2024. After sustaining a severe mauling, Harold was transported to the hospital where doctors placed him in a medically induced coma and amputated his arm. He was also placed on dialysis and endured multiple transfusions in a bid to save his life.

Unfortunately, Harold passed away from the attack:

“Friday Evening Update: It’s with my deepest regret to inform you that Harold has passed away this evening. I appreciate every prayer, donation, and message. Thank you all for the love and care you’ve shown my husband. My children and I are forever grateful.”

“This is heartbreaking,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement. “I just do not understand why we continue to see unleashed and unsecured dangerous dogs running loose and killing our citizenry. With pet ownership comes responsibility, pure and simple. I do not see what is hard to understand about that.”

Neither do we, Kym. It’s one of the simplest topics out there, yet humans and pets continue to face life threatening attacks daily. When will our society end this madness?

Rest in peace 🪦 Harold. We will not forget you. 🙏

Stand together,
