A Beautiful Life Lost: In Memory of Darnelle Greeno 💔🕊️
#dogbiteawareness #dba

Today, we honor and remember a woman who should still be here: Darnelle Greeno.
Darnelle was more than a name in the news. She was a vibrant, kind hearted soul. A beloved mother, wife, daughter, and friend. She poured her energy into her family, cared for her community, and loved deeply, including the dog she raised from a puppy.
Darnelle was not reckless.
She was not abusive.
She was not negligent.
She did everything “right.” She followed the advice given by countless animal groups and rescue organizations. She raised her bloodsport dog from puppyhood. She loved, nurtured, and believed in the message that “it’s all about how you raise them.”
And yet, that dog fatally mauled her in her own home, ending her life in a gruesome and tragic way.
This is the unbearable reality so many families are now facing. When we speak out about the dangers of fighting breed dogs like pits and ambulls, we are not attacking victims like Darnelle. We are mourning them. We are begging the public to learn from the pain these families never asked to carry.
Let us be clear: Darnelle was a victim.
Not just of a violent, fatal dog attack, but also of a lobbying organization that glamorizes aggressive breeds, pressures kind people into adopting them, and dismisses or shames anyone who speaks up about risk.
Too often, when pitbulls kill, the response from bully defenders is heartless and cruel. People mock the victim. They call them stupid. They dig for excuses. They say “she must have abused it,” or “he must have trained it wrong.”

But Darnelle didn’t do anything wrong.
She believed what millions are told to believe, that love is stronger than instinct. That if you raise a dog gently, it will be gentle. That pitbulls are just misunderstood.
She was lied to.
And it cost her and her loved ones everything.

We need to rise above the cruelty and propaganda that dehumanizes victims of pitbull violence. People like Darnelle are not cautionary tales, they are casualties of a system that values a fantasy over human life.
No one deserves to be mauled.
No one deserves to die in fear and agony.
No one deserves to be blamed for loving a dog they were told was safe.
Darnelle deserved a long, beautiful life.
Her children deserved more time with their mother.
Her husband deserved to grow old with the woman he loved.
May her memory be a call to action to speak louder, to advocate harder, and to protect future lives before another family faces the unimaginable.
💔 In loving memory of Darnelle Greeno
We will never forget you.
We will never stop fighting for justice.
