When empathy disappears and blame is deflected, we must confront the gaslighting tactics used to protect dangerous breeds at the expense of truth and safety.

When someone witnesses the aftermath of a violent dog attack, like the tragic mauling of a small, innocent pet, and their immediate reaction is not concern, empathy, or horror, but dismissal, that tells us something far deeper than they realize.
Take this comment:
“a near perfect circle of blood I call bullshit on this post some agenda to push.”
This isn’t just a rude comment. It’s a textbook example of abuser aligned psychology: a defense mechanism built on denial, gaslighting, and dehumanization.
🧠 Let’s break it down:
🔸 Minimizing the victim’s experience: Suggesting the victim or witness faked evidence of trauma is a common tactic used by manipulators to discredit pain and shift the narrative. This protects the aggressor and undermines the harmed party.
🔸 Gaslighting the community: Comments like this aim to plant doubt, not just in the story, but in our shared reality. It’s a subtle form of emotional control. If they can get others to question what they’re seeing, they keep public opinion foggy, conflicted, and protective of dangerous dogs.
🔸 Projection of agenda: Accusing someone of “pushing an agenda” is a projection tactic. The real agenda being pushed is the normalization of bloodsport breeds at the expense of public safety.
🔸 Lack of empathy: Let’s not forget that in this scenario, a beloved small dog was violently mauled. A person capable of brushing that off with sarcasm and mockery is not someone speaking from logic or fairness, they’re emotionally invested in defending the indefensible.
It’s time we recognize these responses for what they are: not neutral opinions, but protective behaviors aimed at preserving a narrative where no pitbull can ever be at fault, no matter the blood spilled.
We must continue to protect victims, uphold truth, and question the real motives behind those who rush to silence the voices of grief.
