She spent decades caring for dogs: including the two pit bulls that mauled her to death. How systemic failures, dismissed citations, and the bloodsport legacy of pit bulls led to a preventable tragedy.

Today is the Angel Day of Kimberly Williams, a loving, experienced groomer and dog handler with over 40 years of professional care who killed by the very dogs she trusted and loved.

On August 2, 2024, Kimberly was dog sitting two pit bulls named Cracker and Cookie for a friend who was recovering from heart surgery. She had lived in the home. She had groomed the dogs. She had cared for them before. And yet, that day, they turned on her, mauling her to death in the backyard.

A concerned friend went to the home after Kimberly didn’t respond to text messages and found her body, while the dogs stood nearby, covered in blood.

According to her daughter in law:

“On Friday night, while house sitting for a friend who was in the hospital, she was caring for his two pit bulls. Unbeknownst to her, these dogs had a history of aggression and had previously attacked someone… There, she found my mother-in-law, who had been fatally mauled… Our family is heartbroken by this senseless tragedy.” — @courtneyg92

The owner of the dogs had multiple prior animal control violations going back many years including:

• Dog attack

• Quarantine violations

• Rabies vaccination failure

• Dogs at large

• Tag and ID violations

All were dismissed by Animal Control.

📉 This is not just a personal tragedy. It’s a systemic failure.

✅ A woman with decades of canine experience couldn’t predict or prevent this attack

✅ The dogs had documented aggression, but no consequences

✅ City officials dismissed serious animal control charges

✅ The dogs were allowed to remain in the community until they killed someone

Kimberly’s death reflects a bigger truth: pit bull type dogs are not safe simply because they’re “raised right.”

Their aggression is breed specific, explosive, and often fatal, even toward people they know and trust. This is the legacy of bloodsport breeding. These dogs were created to attack without warning, without restraint, and without regard for past familiarity.

🚨 When cities ignore deadly risks, when animal control fails to act, and when communities normalize dangerous dogs, the most vulnerable pay the price, even the kind, experienced, and compassionate.

Rest in peace, Kimberly. You deserved better. 💐 We will not forget your story.
