𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺 “𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀” 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀? 🤔

Ever noticed people defending bloodsport dogs will frequently try to claim the dogs are harmless but then twist around with a comment hoping you’re mauled?

Let’s unpack what’s happening here.

1️⃣ Psychology of Projection

Advocates insist their dogs are “nanny dogs” or “gentle giants.” Yet when challenged, they reveal their subconscious awareness of the danger by threatening others with exactly the type of violence they deny. That contradiction isn’t random, it’s projection. They know deep down what these dogs can do and they lack the cognitive filters or emotional regulation to hide it.

2️⃣ Cognitive Dissonance

To resolve the tension between “my dog is safe” and “my dog can kill,” some pit bull defenders lash out with hostile fantasies. By saying critics “deserve” to be mauled, they reframe the potential violence as justified, not accidental. It’s a coping mechanism, but a dangerous one that reveals their knowledge about bloodsport dogs.

3️⃣ Logic Breakdown

If pit bulls are supposedly safe, why use them as weapons in an argument? Invoking mauling as an insult proves the very point advocates try to deny: these dogs are uniquely capable of catastrophic harm.

4️⃣ Normalization of Violence

Publicly wishing for someone to be mutilated by an animal isn’t just poor taste, it reflects a culture where bloodsport dogs are idolized and violence is accepted. This kind of talk normalizes the very thing that victims and their families are forced to live with daily.

At its core, this isn’t about “love for dogs.” It’s about protecting a breed identity at the expense of human safety. When someone tells you both “pit bulls are harmless” and “I hope you get mauled by one,” they’ve exposed the truth: 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 and they’re ok with it.

🔑 Victim advocacy means shining the light on this contradiction. We will not normalize threats, we will not trivialize trauma, and we will not pretend that bloodsport breeds are safe family pets.
