Every time a dog mauls an innocent victim (human or another pet) the attacker receives immeasurable support, defense, and recognition.

Today, let’s all stand together to intentionally create space for the victims of violent dogs.

Bistro was rescued as a puppy. He was provided with the best money could buy. Raised right by the rescue. Trained right by the rescue. Comforted, cared for, and loved beyond all measure.

The rescue then sold Bistro to an owner who was familiar with bloodsport dogs as well.

Despite all of this, Bistro’s genetics prevailed. He attacked the owner’s dog and then attacked the owner.

Bistro was humanely dispatched by animal control after this attack. That’s when the rescue began an intense social media campaign to spin the narrative, committing libel against the new owner and doxxing both the owner and the animal control officer to their violent audience.

The rescue then retracted, deleting their comments and publicly claiming they never did this. They also attempted to deny that the human was injured.

Throughout all of this, the shelter did not even confirm that the other dog or the owner were safe. They exhibited callous disregard for both victims and used what’s called #DARVO to focus their audience on Bistro.

One of the most powerful steps you can take after any violence against humans and animals is to remain firmly focused on the victims. Whatever the crime, be it assault, seggsual crimes, or animal abuse, or homicide, those who defend the attacker all try the same tactic: distract, garner pity for the attacker, ignore/condemn the victim.

Reroute this tactic today. As a community, let us all join together with one peaceful and firm voice: we will NOT forget the victims of violent dog crimes and we will NOT participate in DARVO!
