Another baby has succumbed to a dog mauling during Pitbull Awareness Month. 💔 The one month old baby girl born of Torrance, California was not identified in the news or by the biological parents as of the time of publication. 🚩

As is typical with Pitmommy cases and eerily reminiscent of the double homicide from last month, this pitmom seemed to be living out a severe cycle of abuse and poverty. She publicly disclosed a series of issues including mental illness, housing 🏡 insecurity, substance use, and more over the past couple years.

Her current housing situation appeared to be filthy and unsafe for children. On her social media, she features Rambo, an apparent 3 year old pitbull, but there is no evidence of the other alleged pit mixes. 🐕

Additionally, she had a previous baby boy named Caiden. There is no evidence of what happened to 👦Caiden or why, so we do not have any confirmation on his status. Safety Advocates anonymously reported to me that he was removed from the home. I cannot confirm this. A year later, the mom repeated her behavior and gave birth to the current victim.

A friend named Faye Tohidi publicly spoke with NBC to share her thoughts about the fatal attack, alleging that the mom had 3 dogs: a pitbull, a pit mix, and a mastiff.

It is unknown which dog(s) attacked the baby. Torrance Animal Control only used the term “mixed breed” which is a common way to sidestep the pitbull label in attack cases.

So Rambo is only shared here for thoroughness and no claim is made about its involvement. The earliest reports on social media by neighbors claimed that the primary predator was a Pit-Irish Wolfhound mix that had recently been rescued.

Rambo appears to have behavioral issues and was known to run loose. The mom shows that she’s aware of its aggression in prior public posts. The alleged biological father also seemed to have difficulty 🚩 with communication and safe behavior.

Faye Tohidi publicly said what the mom should have known and heeded:

Be aware. When you have a big dog, and you have an infant in the house, you have to make sure they are completely separate or give your dog away. Your newborn needs your attention.” -Tahidi

It’s clear that this baby did not have parents with her best interest at heart and was not living in a safe home environment.

With the mom’s history and the removal of her prior child just a year ago, we should question why DFCS (CPS) allowed the baby to leave the hospital with these parents and live in this home, especially without any apparent check ups along the way or any monitoring of the dogs in the home.

Baby Girl’s case is a textbook reminder that again and again and again, every authority every step of the way fails to act reasonably in a scenario that is predictable and easy to spot.

Dangerous dogs remain highly accessible to all people regardless of their prior behavior or stability. And there is no education given or action taken when an innocent child is placed in these unsafe environments.

As we continue to observe Pitbull Awareness Month, please keep Baby Girl in your thoughts. 🙏 Let her be a reminder that the pitbull crisis is tied to many other important issues such as domestic violence, poverty, substance abuse, and more.

It is not a a tragic accident when an innocent person or pet is mauled, but rather a predictable and preventable outcome that our society should have stopped before it was too late. 💯
