Here we have a freshly minted “trainer” and young, new mom who tried to claim one thing but then changed her tune when presented with a fatality case that didn’t support her claims.
This is a common tactic when you’re engaging with someone who isn’t honest.
What is a goalpost fallacy?
It’s also known as moving the goals, gravity gaming, demanding perfection, and raising the bar. It’s an official fallacy and a common gaslighting or #DARVO tactic.
“Description: Demanding from an opponent that he or she address more and more points after the initial counter-argument has been satisfied refusing to concede or accept the opponent’s argument.
Logical Form:
Issue A has been raised, and adequately answered.
Issue B is then raised, and adequately answered.
…..
Issue Z is then raised, and adequately answered.
(despite all issues adequately answered, the opponent refuses to conceded or accept the argument.” -Logically Fallacious
In this case, this woman started with the claim that parents are accountable (to blame) because they must always supervise children and dogs together.
When presented with evidence that dogs fatally maul children under direct supervision, she took a GIANT step forward, creating as many conditions as possible to insulate the attacker and owner from accountability.

Despite doing this, she still doubled down on her original claim about supervision at the same time with another commenter.
Have you ever seen someone use the goalpost fallacy to evade culpability in the dog topic? Let us know ⬇️
