CHARGES FILED in pediatric pit bull attack case from April of this year.

Location: Liberal, MO
Victim: male child, son of the alleged pit owner
Outcome: Serious injuries requiring a lifeflight. Child survived, status unknown.
Circumstances: The pit owner and father to 3 children present in the home reported that the pit unpredictably began to attack the son without provocation.

A Liberal, Missouri man identified as 38 year old Jacob Allen Judd is currently facing multiple felony charges from a dog attack in April, 2026.

Judd has been charged with:

child endangerment
keeping a dangerous dog
abuse of an elderly, disabled or vulnerable person
child abuse or neglect

According to the official report, the pit had severely attacked another victim back in June of 2025. Judd told police at that time he would “get rid of” the pit.

Police 👮 did not appear to arrest or cite Judd at that time. Nor was the pit seized. Police and animal control also do not appear to have followed up with Judd to confirm his promise.

Instead, Judd kept the pit and allowed it to be unrestrained around his 3 small children 👶 in the home, where the pit then started mauling one of the children in April.

The child was lifeflighted to a trauma hospital 🏥 with severe injuries.

According to Sandy, who claims to be the biological mother of the kids in the report, the dog was named #Loki and its brain was tested to rule out rabies. The test was negative.

To add to the audacity of this case, Liberal has kept a breed specific pit bull policy since 1989.

This case underscores how an entire system enables bad owners to maim or kill innocent people with their dangerous dogs. It’s notable that the biological mom own pits/mixes that also could harm the children and her current fiance owns a pit. Judd himself also has over 10 cases on casenet. Cycles often involve entire family systems and communities and we must see all of the connections to begin changing lives.

This case also falls into one of the subcategories that we track: dads using dogs to maul their kids during custody visits with grandma present or involved. His elderly and disabled mother was the one who stepped between the attacking dog and the child. To our knowledge, she is who saved the child’s life.

Notice how a pit bull ordinance existed in this area and TWO people were still mauled. Please, consider my points on how we need to sidestep BSL to implement common sense laws and then ensure regulation/auditing/cultural changes to drive higher prosecution rates and enforcement.

After the first attack, police should’ve seized this dog, dispatched it, and arrested the owner. Instead, even with BSL, the pit was allowed to attack again.
